Privacy policy

Stonewise · Effective August 19, 2026

Stonewise is built to know as little about you as possible. The one thing it does need is the photo you ask it to identify. Here is the complete picture.

Photos you submit

When you take or choose a photo of a rock, that photo is uploaded to our identification service, where it is analyzed (including by an AI model) to produce the identification result you see. Photos are used only to answer your request: they are not used for advertising, not sold, and not used to identify you. Requests may be kept for a short time for reliability and abuse prevention, then discarded.

What stays on your device

Your scan history and preferences are stored only on your device. If you delete the app, that data is deleted with it.

What we don't do

Free scans and Pro

To count your free identifications fairly, requests carry a random device identifier, never your identity. Payments are processed by Apple. To manage your subscription across devices, we use RevenueCat, which receives your purchase receipt and a random identifier, never your name or Apple ID. You can read the RevenueCat privacy policy.

Usage analytics

The app may collect anonymous usage events (for example, that a scan was completed) to help us understand what to improve. These events carry a random identifier, not your identity, and are never used to track you across other apps or websites.

Questions or requests

Write to [email protected] and a human will answer.

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
